‘Migrations’ is a reflection on the concepts of motion and movement that takes place all around us. Inspired by the arc of flight of a swarm of birds, and the fluid movement of a school of fish, Juliana Kang Robinson’s artwork capture the transfixing and peaceful movements found within nature.
The textural richness of her pieces come from precise marks that imitate the irregular paths of insects or the markings on an ancient tree. These visual remnants of migrations and movement show us how all living things are in a natural state of motion that is both painful and beautiful.
Born in South Korea, Juliana Kang Robinson received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work can be found in collections nationally and internationally, and she has taught drawing, painting, printmaking at multiple colleges.
