Photography has always been part of Lisa Wellman’s life, even during her illustrious career in technology. In her most recent collection of photography, she focuses on finding beauty hidden in plain sight, photographing industrial structures ravaged by time and nature. Fine artist Howard Lamar praised Lisa's work, stating, "I was stuck by her high quality [images], especially the composition and [an] eye that sees powerful beauty in such unique aesthetics."
After her husband passed away, Lisa went on a journey of self-discovery and used photography to capture images of her personal vision of beauty, resulting in a collection of photographs that resemble abstract art paintings. Currently, Lisa is a Washington State Senator for the 41st Legislative District, splitting her time between Olympia and Mercer Island. Lisa also serves on the Washington State Public Works Board and Partners for Rural Washington and is a mentor for MBA candidates at the Foster Business School at UW. Even with her busy schedule, Lisa loves to explore new places and take beautifully-composed photographs.
