For the First Friday of 2018, SZ Gallery will be showcasing Danish artist Gitte Peters' exhibit, NATURE'S POETRY, a collection of oil paintings. Her pieces will be available for purchase until the end of March, and in the spirit of new beginnings, they will be offered at a gallery discount of 30%. For the First Friday Art & Wine event, we'll also have drinks and small bites to enjoy!
A year and a half ago during our grand opening, we were honored to be the first gallery in the United States to represent Gitte Peters and her work. Her paintings are well-collected across Europe, and since arriving to the US, her work has been exhibited in reputable galleries in the fine arts district of New York City.
Born in Denmark to a family of artists and musicians, Gitte Peters sensed her gift early on and started the pursuit of her artistic journey in the early 90’s. She found great success in the second year of her debut, with 36 exhibitions that all sold out in one year. After spending her first decade as a professional artist in Denmark, with hundreds of her paintings hanging in homes, galleries, banks, and companies, she decided to move to the South of France, driven by her love for its beautiful nature and surroundings.
The evolution of her artistic expressions led her to focus on three main styles, all inspired by nature. Gitte succeeded to capture the viewer’s attention by creating pieces full of life with light and color. Her finished work has several layers of oil paint; to her, the canvas is a sounding board that reflects her own feelings and desire to communicate a positive message.
Gitte spends hours, if not days, in front of her canvas until a clear image is imprinted in her mind and heart before it is expressed with her skillful hands and her choice of colors. Once the piece is done, after weeks or months, the harmony of the entire piece reveals a journey of deep reflection and joy.
After years of evolution in her style, Gitte has become well known for her expressionist creations of nature, flowers, and poetic water scenes. She has held over 27 Solo Exhibitions, 20 Group Exhibitions, and 35 Public Decorations in Europe and the UAE since 1997, including over ten years with Galerie Knud Grothe. Her work is regularly shown in various galleries in Denmark, Western Europe, and her own showroom in Monaco, where she currently resides.
Gitte hopes that those who admire and acquire her art will appreciate the feelings of love and happiness that inspired her, and adopt these feelings into their everyday life, too.
With our gallery discount, this is a rare opportunity for art collectors on the West Coast to attain her pieces, as they are gaining market value in the US. This collection will likely travel to the East Coast after the end of this show for further exhibits. NATURE'S POETRY will be at SZ Gallery from January 5 - March 31.
